I was a little apprehensive at first to seek out help, but by the end of my first appointment that completely faded. It turned out that my ED was a side effect of the medication I was taking, and after making a few manageable changes I was back to my old self again. HUGE thank you to Revive!

What Causes E.D.?

In many cases, the cause of erectile dysfunction (E.D.) is physical in nature. An underlying disease or physical condition is often responsible for the majority of cases of erectile dysfunction. A very common cause of erectile dysfunction is hormonal imbalance. Other common contributors to erectile dysfunction are the vascular effects of diabetes, as well as side effects of medications used for heart disease and hypertension. Post-surgical nerve damage following urologic surgeries is sometimes a concern as well, though this is obviously a lot less common.

Our doctors at Revive MD have an extremely high success rate in properly diagnosing the underlying condition which is the cause of erectile dysfunction.

Is Erectile Dysfunction Mental?

Contrary to popular belief, the majority of the erectile dysfunction cases that we see in our office are physical in nature, and rarely caused by psychological factors like stress, anxiety, and depression. It is certainly possible to suffer temporary erectile dysfunction from anxiety, stress, emotional disturbances, or other psychological issues, but these are usually resolved after time. Treatment for psychologically-induced erectile dysfunction usually follows standard advice for healthy lifestyles: exercise, meditation, counseling, healthy diet, engaging in stress-reducing hobbies and pastimes, etc.

If your erectile dysfunction has lasted for a while, and does not seem to vary or improve with positive changes in lifestyle and diet, it is probably time for a trip to the doctor to look at possible physical causes.

Can Erectile Dysfunction Be Cured?

Although results are entirely dependent on the individual, in many cases erectile dysfunction is able to be reversed or cured. Success rates depend on the underlying cause of E.D., and hence the treatment which is needed to heal the patient. Whether the issue is related to low testosterone or other hormonal imbalance, damage to nerves or blood vessels, or overall poor circulation, there is usually a treatment for E.D. that will help most patients see improvement.

Treatment Options for Erectile Dysfunction in Colorado

There are many evolving treatments that are intended to increase blood flow in the penis and regenerate nerve supply. These include PRP, stem cells, vacuum devices, acoustic wave pulse devices, radio frequency and laser methods. Many men suffering from erectile dysfunction have success utilizing phosphodiesterase type five (PDE-5) medications such as Viagra, Levitra or Cialis. These drugs have only partial effect in patients with diabetes mellitus, hypertension and surgically induced nerve injury, which is common in radical prostatectomy.

Stem Cell Therapy for Erectile Dysfunction (ED)

35 studies have demonstrated that the use of stem cells injected into the corpus cavernosum portion of the penis for the treatment of erectile dysfunction resulted in reported significant improvement in erectile function. The majority of these patient also reported improved sensitivity of nerves in the erectile tissue.

Stem cell E.D. procedures are performed in an outpatient setting at Revive MD. This is done with little or no pain after an injection of local anesthetic blocking the nerve supply to the penis. This is called a dorsal penile nerve block and lasts long enough that there is no pain with, or after the procedure. Results can be seen within the first several weeks. They can continue to improve for up to 12 months after a single injection.

PRP Treatment for ED

PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) treatment for E.D. involves drawing blood from a patient’s own body and spinning, or “centrifuging” it in order to separate out the plasma which contains growth factors, inflammation mediators, and other cells and components which are then injected back into the spongy vascular tissue (veins and blood vessels) of the penis called the corpus cavernosum. This stimulates new tissue growth.

Erectile Dysfunction Medication

One of the most common questions we get is “what is the best medicine for erectile dysfunction without the side effects?” The answer, usually, is “it depends.” Viagra and Levitra typically last for around 4 to 6 hours, while Cialis can last up to 36 hours in some cases. This can present pros and cons. If you do end up experiencing side effects, Cialis will take longer to leave your system.

Ultimately, we prefer to attack the root cause of the issue rather than writing a prescription for pills and sending you on your way. Medication for Erectile Dysfunction is a treatment route that deserves some consideration, and that’s why we prefer to do a complete health evaluation and look for options that are better and more effective in the long term.
